The boxers that become "Punch Drunk" as you say are fighters who just take to many shots to the head. Either beacuse they could not protect them selves or out skilled or just because they were in the ring.

If you take a look at a pic of a brain of a 7 year pro boxer
you will see many black spots which mean Dead Brain tissue

On average the fighters who get hit the least will have a longer career but the guys who go all out will have a short lived career.

Legally, they can refuse service to anyone they want; but if the person has ID, and it's clearly not fake, then it's poor business practice to refuse to serve them.

The 27-year-old fellow should have his ID ready to show the barman, saying, "Some people have told me I look too young to be drinking."

Drinking establishments get into big trouble when they serve underage people, so barmen generally think, "Better safe than sorry."

I didn't used to like the taste, darling, but now I really enjoy the complexity of a nice wine, or the earthy, nutty taste of my favorite beer.

I do like the taste of the sweet mixed drinks that my ex-husband used to call "chick drinks" - the ones designed to taste like anything but alcohol - but it makes me feel stupid to try to disguise the taste of alcohol with candy-colored fruit-flavored juices, so I just get them without the alcohol if I feel like having one.

I have never been able to drink whisky or bourbon or any of those nasty liquors...I can't even drink brandy. I have friends who like to fry their palates with scotch before dinner parties - they laugh and call me a baby as they hand me a glass of sherry.

As you get older, your palate will change, and you may find that you do like some kinds of alcohol - it's not something that you should force yourself to like, darling, but alcohol does have some health benefits, taken in moderation.

It may become an acquired taste; but if you don't care for it, then why drink it? If you want to "learn" to drink enough to be sociable, I suggest (once you're "legal") that you go with some of the sweeter mixed drinks or liqueurs. I think that a person who acquires a taste for alcohol in moderation perhaps has the best of all worlds, as they can enjoy them for their own unique tastes without feeling they "have" to drink to the point of drunkenness. I know that I didn't really acquire a taste for alcohol until my mid-20s; I seldom drink, but when I do, I prefer a small bit of a GOOD quality item (amaretto, a single-malt scotch, or a good wine) rather that large amounts of anything.
